He plays an entire song called Encore that says thank you to EVH. I think he has done a good job honoring Eddie.

Honoring Eddie does not mean being a carbon-copy replica of his sound. Satriani clearly studied Eddie's playing, learned the songs, incorporated elements of Eddie's sound, and built a show around music Eddie helped create. That seems a lot closer to honoring him than pretending to be him.

At this point, it seems like you're more interested in finding reasons to complain than acknowledging what's actually being done to honor Eddie.

No, and does it matter? Satriani is the same guy Alex wanted to use for a reason. The people putting on the show seem to enjoy it, and the fans attending seem to enjoy it too. That's really all that matters.

It was a great show, man. Any time either Dave or Sammy plays within 300 miles of Tulsa, Paula and I go. It just makes no sense to miss such a good time. Heck, if Cherone would sing VH stuff I'd go see him! :-)

Yes, Satriani talked about using Eddie's gear and trying to capture Eddie's sound. That's not the same thing as trying to impersonate Eddie. In later interviews he said he wasn't interested in being an EVH clone and was looking for an approach that worked for the tour.

I guess you missed the interviews where he said he was gonna try to really copy Eddie with his equipment and the sound, but then he did not. Obviously, because he can’t, but still…….
